14th November 2019 – London
The 9th edition of the 2019 Lux Awards took place in London Hilton on Park Lane, London in the framework of the Lux Live show in which more than 200 companies participated this year. With more than 7,000 registered visitors, this event is considered as one of the most important lighting awards in Europe. Since the inception of the Lux Awards in 2011, this is the first time that a Spanish company is recognized with this award.
The LEDMOTIVE VEGA 07 module was awarded in the category “Enabling Technology of the Year”. This is a cutting-edge LED module with integrated spectral functionalities. The module provides spectral control to reproduce in real-time any light spectrum, as well as the dynamism of natural daylight throughout the day. The VEGA 07 can be tuned to match natural daylight with an unprecedented accuracy, or indeed can be used to emulate any spectral signature within the visible range. It is generally used to target both the visual and the non-visual pathways for human-centric applications.
This awarded product has already been used in projects around the world, especially in hospitals, 24/7 control rooms without daylight, offices, and in general places where wellbeing and productivity are of utmost importance.
Perhaps the most emblematic project in which the awarded technology has been used is the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Vall d’Hebron Hospital in Barcelona. This action has served to demonstrate first-hand how patient’s recovery can be accelerated by providing the right light at the right time.
Applications of this technology are innumerable. However, we are currently very much focused on those who work in daylight-deprived environments, for which this technology can help improve their quality of life, reduce fatigue and promote wellbeing, among others.
LEDMOTIVE, is a high-tech start-up company founded by Josep Carreras and Meritxell Carreras. This Lux Award is a great recognition to all the efforts and stubborn vision we have been committed to over the last years. We’ll keep on working towards the next revolution in lighting.
