Light spectra have effects on human cognition, emotions, attention, productivity, hormones and affect our circadian rhythms. Our light engines can be duly programmed to positively affect our health and productivity in different situations.

Woolcock Institute – Australia

The Woolcock Institute is a Medical Research Centre with more than 200 medical researchers dedicated to investigating respiratory and sleep health through world-class research and novel clinical practice treatments. The goal of the lighting system was to bring the most natural light possible using the LED technology. The selected product was LEDMOTIVE VEGA 07 module with spectral control that includes a connected IoT light hub and an advanced control API software.

Researcher in this new facility are studying new therapies and approaches to the impact on health, sleep response, circadian rhythms and cognitive functions in elderly people who are affected by Alzheimer, Mild Cognitive impairment (MCI) or sleep disorders. Also, the psychological state is being assessing in the studies as well.

Vall d’Hebron Hospital – Spain

The Vall d’Hebron University Hospital is a public and university affiliated hospital founded in 1955. It belongs to the Catalan Health Institute and is the hospital complex with the highest volume of interventions in Catalonia, Spain. In 2018 the hospital installed a new circadian lighting system with LEDMOTIVE spectral control technology for the new Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Advanced lighting features connected clinical data with patient security and optimum illumination were included.

All patient information is linked to a smart screen where hospital staff can monitor their progress. A blue light indicator in the patient’s room warns if they are about to enter a critical situation, and the doors open automatically allowing easier access.

Substituting the previous unit, the new ICU has an extension of 3,500 square meters and 56 individual spaces for patients, making the biggest in Spain as a whole.

The design of the ICU incorporates “Smart beds” that mimics the natural day-night cycle. The beds are connected to a smart display, relaying information such as the patient’s weight, movements, position so they do not spend too much time immobile, and warnings of falls. The ICU unit expects to attend to around 2,200 patients each year. With this new technology, it will be able to do so in a more agile way than what was possible with the previous Intensive Care Unit. For patients and relatives alike, the changes are positive. In addition, each patient also gets their own, more private space, and they are always under the surveillance of medical professionals, so their loved ones know they are in safe hands.

Mar Hospital – Spain

The project included the refurbishment of the lighting system of the semi-critic patients unit. This is a multi-purpose unit managed by the Intensive Medicine Service, specialized in the management of serious or potentially serious patients that provides strict monitoring and care with lower level of critical patient units, but far superior to the conventional hospitalization rooms. The selected products for this installation were luminaires LEDMOTIVE VEGA 07 module with spectral control, LIGH-HUB gateways and button actuators.

Clinic Hospital – Spain

The Clinic Hospital is a university hospital founded in 1906 that belongs to the Catalan Network of Public Hospitals (XHUP). Through the practice of all areas of medical and surgical specialization, the hospital is active in the areas of medical care, research, and teaching, both directly and through external partners.

The objective of the project was the implementation of a customized circadian lighting solution that included downlight with LEDMOTIVE technology VEGA 07 modules with spectral control, light-hub gateway and button actuators. The system allows controlling the luminaires of each box independently to operate as a circadian system or a lighting system configured for patient exploration.
